Amadeus River Cruises continues to expand its fleet with the announcement of Amadeus Aurea, which will launch in May 2026 on the Rhine and Danube rivers. The line is highlighting the vessel’s advanced hybrid propulsion system, high-performance battery power and heated outdoor pool.
Following Amadeus Nova, which came out in 2024, Aurea will continue the line’s mantra of a “new generation on the river” with regard to its design prowess and environmental friendliness.
“No other cruise line offers such a seamless blend of luxury and sustainability,” said Marcus Leskovar, executive vice president of Amadeus River Cruises. “In 2026, we continue our tradition of innovative shipbuilding, further strengthening our commitment to eco-friendly cruising. The Amadeus Aurea embodies everything our fleet is known for, while also showcasing cutting-edge technology that reflects our dedication to sustainable travel.”
No other cruise line offers such a seamless blend of luxury and sustainability.
The 443-foot-long riverboat will sleep 158 guests in a combination of 12 balcony suites and 67 staterooms, most of which will showcase drop-down panoramic windows. Other public venues include wind-protected lounge spaces, an open "Cafe Vienna" gallery and sun deck with a pool and a Lido bar. Elsewhere, a massage and fitness space will provide onboard wellness.
Specific to sustainability, Aurea will employ a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system to dramatically reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and an advanced control and positioning system to improve efficiency. Solar panels will deliver extra power while a heat recovery system will further optimize energy, and special glass panelling will reduce heat loss and temperature fluctuation.
