Carnival Jubilee's Deck Plans Include Two New Zones

When Carnival Cruise Line’s next new ship — Carnival Jubilee — sets sail from Galveston, Texas on Dec. 23, 2023, it will debut two new zones: Currents and The Shores. Compared to its predecessor, Carnival Celebration, these areas will reimagine The Gateway and 820 Biscayne, respectively.

Currents

Spanning decks six and seven will be a series of bars and restaurants taking inspiration from “underwater worlds, both realistic and fantastical,” according to Carnival. Providing atmosphere will be live music, plus six LED windows, a wave-shaped LED ceiling and show lighting that will animate by day and night.

Added-cost Emeril’s Bistro, from the line’s chief culinary officer and celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, will return as Emeril’s Bistro 717 this time around, named after the ship’s hull number designation at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Guests can continue to expect the likes of shrimp and grits, poached eggs and beignets for breakfast, or creole-boiled shrimp, oysters, stone crab, lobster and other authentic Louisiana cuisine for lunch and dinner. Fan favorites the Alchemy Bar and Carnival Kitchen will also be reprised here.

Adjacent to Emeril’s and replacing Celebration’s Latitudes Bar will be Jubilee’s Dr.Inks, Ph.D, complete with octopus arms adorning the watering hole, as well as loads of sea creature personality via the menu, the character’s books, journals and fountain pens, laid out to peruse. Ocean-inspired drinks will extend to color-changing cocktails and imaginative garnishes such as sea foam and boba pearls.

Swapping out the historic Golden Jubilee on Celebration will be The Golden Mermaid on Jubilee, described as “home to a mysterious golden mermaid who swims to the depths of the oceans to find long-lost treasures of ancient civilizations and uncover secret cocktail recipes.” Patrons can expect a live band on stage, in addition to cocktails made with edible glitter and decanted from impressive and shapely glassware.

The Shores

Meanwhile, The Shores boardwalk-like zone on deck eight will feature a three-story fish school art installation illustrating the transition from under the sea to above it. Pizza will still be available from Coastal Slice, and sandwiches and hot dogs will be prepared at Beach Buns, all of which will reside below a colorful Ferris wheel-inspired ceiling.

But instead of Celebration’s Bar 820, Jubilee will feature Marina Bar, clad in nautical decor and outfitted with cozy lounge seating at which guests can enjoy a coffee or cocktail indoors or out. Similarly, Rudi’s Seagrill and Cucina del Capitano will return for specialty seafood and Italian food, respectively, with both indoor and alfresco seating.

Rounding out the zones on Jubilee will be Grand Central and its triple-decker atrium and stage; The Ultimate Playground and its Bolt roller coaster; Summer Landing and its Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse; and, last but not least, Lido and its poolside Carnival Seaside Theater, plus popular eateries such as Guy’s Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina.
