The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has ordered another two newbuild yachts, despite multiple delays for the luxury brand’s first ship, Evrima, which is set to launch this summer. Ilma and Luminara are scheduled to arrive in 2024 and 2025, respectively, and will be built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France. An option exists for more future vessels, as well.

“We are thrilled to work with Chantiers de l’Atlantique on the development of our second and third superyachts, Ilma and Luminara,” said Douglas Prothero, CEO for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. “They are a likeminded organization that is committed to excellence and a custom quality process and program that will help execute our vision as we thoughtfully expand our portfolio.”

Larger than the 298-guest, 149-suite Evrima, sister ships Ilma and Luminara will each feature 228 private-terrace suites, touting a high percentage of larger accommodations. In fact, two suites will measure 1,076 square feet.

“Chantiers de l’Atlantique is very proud to design and build these medium-size, ultra-luxury cruise vessels and initiate a new partnership with The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection,” said Laurent Castaing, general manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique. “These ships will provide the highest quality standards and comfort level to their guests and simultaneously be at the forefront of environmental performances.”

Exterior designs are being developed by Finland-based yacht stylist Aivan, and interiors are being imagined by London-based architect and design firm AD Associates and lighting designer DPA.

Ilma and Luminara further promise the highest space ratios at sea and the highest staff-to-guest ratios in the luxury cruising category (almost one staff member for each passenger).

Other onboard venues include five restaurants, six bars, a wine vault, an expanded marina, a Ritz-Carlton Spa and a Ritz Kids programming area.

Technically geared toward sustainability, the yachts will employ four dual-fuel engines powered primarily by lower-emission liquefied natural gas, as well as advanced water treatment systems, a heat recovery loop and energy-efficient LED lighting.

Caribbean and Mediterranean itineraries will range from seven to 10 nights in length, and bookings for the 2024 season will open to the public this fall.
